CMPRF constitution and Assistance

Chief Minister's Public Relief Relief Fund has been in operation w.e.f 13-07-1971 for contributions received and to provide relief for public purposes such as financial assistance in the event of natural calamities, unexpected death, accidents, higher education, etc. The scheme is intended to reach to those in need on the basis of sanction by Government. This fund depends upon voluntary donations received from the general public, NGOs and from corporates.

The contribution to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund entitles the donor to avail 100% exemption under Section 80 (G) of Income Tax Act 1961. The PAN of Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund is AAAGC0038F.

The representations/ applications received seeking financial relief from the CMPRF are examined by the Administrative Departments concerned and recommend sanction in deserving cases.

Fund Authority

The fund is operated by the Secretary to Government, Finance Department. Contributions to CMPRF/ COVID-19 are remitted to the bank account maintained in Indian Overseas Bank, Secretariat Branch, Chennai and the funds are released through Cheques to the concerned District Collectors, Superintendent of Police, Commissioner of Police and Department of Technical Education, etc., The funds can be withdrawn only under the hand and seal of the Deputy Secretary to Government / Treasurer and Under Secretary to Government who is in charge of the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
